Refining facial contour for patients with small chin – Face, Neck lift Surgery

This is Dr. Nakao from Nakao Plastic Surgery

People with a small chin are often concerned about the sagging under the chin.

This happens because the soft tissues under the chin does not fit well in the skeletal structure of the lower jaw which causing the sagging. This is seen even in younger patients too.

In Japan, treatment such as liposuction are commonly performed to ease this concern. However, in many cases, unless the tissues under the chin are not properly repositioned, reducing fat alone makes limits the improvement.

This is a patient from overseas with a small chin.

We performed a facelift surgery which included the following procedures:

- Incision lift

- Deep plane facelift

- Lateral neck lift

- Platysmaplasty or pelican surgery

By working on the back side of the platysma muscle, we were able to elevate the tissues under the chin.

Sagging treatment requires a careful balance of reduction and lifting.

When refining the facial contour, the relationship with the lower jaw bone should always be taken into consideration.

Even for patients with a smaller chin, we aim for a clean and natural facial contour.
