Nasal Obstruction after Septoplasty

Hello, I am Dr. Nakao from Nakao Plastic Surgery.

One of the major surgical procedures at Nakao Plastic Surgery is Septoplasty with nasal obstruction.

This includes cases in where an otolaryngologist has previously performed surgery for deviated nose and did not improve.

There are several reasons why nasal obstruction does not improve after a deviated nose surgery.

(1) The deviation still exists.

(2) Only the deviation was corrected but not the external nose, so the nasal cavity is still narrow.

(3) The pillar and roof of the nasal septum remain bent and tilted.

(4) The internal nasal valve, which is structurally narrow inside the nose, has not been treated.

These are some of the reasons.

We will perform a complex surgical treatment for nasal obstruction caused by multiple factors.

The picture shows an intraoperative endoscopic image of a patient who was operated on for residual nasal obstruction after deviated nose surgery.

  • We assumed the following conditions were the causes of the patient's nasal obstruction and performed Septoplasty.
  • - deviation still remaining
  • - nasal septum perforation
  • - oblique nose
  • - obstruction of the internal nasal valve

Dr. Yong Ju Jang, an otolaryngologist at Asan Medical Center in Seoul, Korea, is one of the Asian leaders in Septoplasty and and rhinoplasty.

As one of the few rhinoplasty surgeons in Japan that can perform Septoplasty, we will continue to pursue both aesthetic and function.
