Medical Supervision for a Medical Website, Medical DOC on Nasal Deviation

I'm Dr. Nakao from Nakao Plastic Surgery.
I recently served as a medical supervisor for an article about nasal deviation on the medical website, Medical DOC.
Please take a moment to read it.
Nasal congestion significantly impairs ADL (Activities of Daily Living) and overall daily function.
While it can occur due to common colds, one major cause is a deviated nose.
This is a condition in which the air passage inside the nose becomes narrowed or obstructed.
Nasal deviation can occur in both the internal nasal structure and the outer nose shape (external nose).
Most internal deviations are treated through a procedure called septoplasty, typically performed by otolaryngologists.
However, depending on the location of the deviation, standard septoplasty may not be the cure.
Furthermore, when the external nasal shape is deviated, septoplasty alone can sometimes worsen the nasal obstruction.
In cases where the nasal obstruction is caused by (anterior or superior) septal deviation in complex locations inside the nose or when it is accompanied by external nasal deformity, surgeries such as septorhinoplasty will be taken into consideration.
In Japan, septorhinoplasy is often performed jointly with otolaryngologist and plastic surgeons, but in Nakao Plastic Surgery the entire procedure is done by the director himself.
This approach aligns with the global standards, with both the internal shape of the nose and its external appearance taken into consideration.
In recent years, "Preservation Rhinoplasty" has become the worldwide standard of shaping the external nose.
Many patients with nasal deviation also has a hump nose or a large nasal structure so it may be worth considering a surgeon skilled in this technique.
Septoplasty and external rhinoplasty (nasal bone osteotomy) are inseparable procedures.
Our director is a pioneer of Preservation Rhinoplasty in Japan with numerous lectures at the Japan Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the Japanese Rhinologic Society, as well as publishing several papers on these topics and is an experienced surgeon.
He has extensive experience operating not only for Japanese patients but also for many international patients from various countries.
